Wisteria House
Address: No.1 Lane 16,Sec. 3 of Xinsheng South Road.
Wisteria House is a Japanese-style wooden house, typical of the clustered Japanese residences built in the 1920s. It is named for the three wisteria trees planted in the courtyard at the center of the house. The house’s simple yet elegant atmosphere has long been a favorite for artists and intellectuals, who find it a peaceful place to read, write, or chat. Thanks to the efforts made by the owner and other citizens concerned about city heritage, Wisteria House has been designated an historic site by Taipei City and so will avoid the tragic fate of demolition.
