"Hand in Hand" Family Disaster Prevention Event
To deepen community disaster awareness, the Second Headquarter of Taipei City Fire Department and the Xixin Village Office of Nangang District will co-host the "Hand in Hand" Family Disaster Prevention Event on March 28 (Saturday) from 14:00 to 17:00 at Nangang Xinxin Park. Citizens are invited to bring their families to learn about disaster prevention, protect their homes, and enjoy an afternoon filled with knowledge and joy! The fire department stated that the event features diverse disaster prevention experience booths, including "VR Firefighting Challenge," "Heart and Skill Warriors," and "Home Safety Promotion 1216." Interactive facilities such as an earthquake experience vehicle and a fire safety promotion vehicle are also planned for citizens to participate in person. At the same time, the event integrates technology by introducing VR virtual firefighting training equipment. Through technological guidance, the public can simulate initial fire response scenarios in a safe environment, learning correct firefighting timing and evacuation paths through an immersive experience. This further enhances disaster prevention knowledge and emergency response capabilities, gaining precious golden rescue time for themselves and their families when a disaster occurs. According to the 2025 fire data statistics, electrical factors are the most frequent cause of fires. When using electrical appliances and extension cords, the public should remember the "5 Noes and 1 Without" principle: do not overload circuits, do not bundle wires, do not leave plugs inserted when not in use, do not allow plugs to become dirty or damaged, do not place combustibles around appliances, and do not use without a safety certification mark. Additionally, citizens should regularly inspect the condition of home electrical equipment and wiring, replacing old or damaged items immediately. Avoid using high-power consumption products for extended periods and develop good electricity usage habits to implement fire safety in daily life, protecting the safety of the home environment and the lives and property of family members. Additionally, as the Tomb-Sweeping Festival approaches, the Fire Department reminds the public to pay close attention to fire safety when visiting graves. Always follow the principle of “extinguish fires before leaving,” and never leave burning incense or joss paper unattended. Choose open areas free of flammable materials for burning offerings, and consider bringing water or simple firefighting tools to prevent fires from spreading. After paying respects, be sure to double-check that all flames are completely extinguished. By taking these precautions, we can help prevent wildfires and protect both the natural environment and public safety. The fire department expressed hope that through this family disaster prevention education carnival, disaster prevention concepts will take root in the younger generation, allowing the public to establish correct firefighting and evacuation knowledge through relaxed and interesting interactive experiences, which can then be implemented in daily life. In the future, the department will continue to combine community resources to promote various disaster prevention promotion activities, enhancing the overall disaster resilience of society and working with citizens to create a safer and more secure living environment.
