Additional breastfeeding rooms are being created in MRT stations. Besides the 30 existing stations, breastfeeding rooms in Dingxi Station along the Zhonghe Xinlu Line have already been opened, and rooms in other stations including MRT Gongguan Station along the Songshan Xindian Line will also be opened soon to provide citizens with more convenience.

The breastfeeding rooms inside the stations feature a sofa chair with adequate height, a small side table to facilitate breastfeeding, 110V electrical outlets, washbasin, a diaper changing table, a hot and cold water dispenser, a landline telephone or intercom system and emergency call button for the protection of women, allowing nursing mothers to contact the station’s information counter directly.

At present, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) has established breastfeeding rooms in 30 MRT stations: Taipei Main Station, Minquan West Road Station, Jiantan Station, Beitou Station, Tamsui Station, Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station, Guting Station, Qizhang Station, Xindian Station, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station, Nangang Station, Taipei City Hall Station, Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station, Ximen Station, Banqiao Station, Luzhou Station, Huilong Station, Daqiaotou Station, Dongmen Station, Songshan Airport Station, Taipei Zoo Station, Daan Park Station, Daan Station, Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station, Zhongshan Station, Songjiang Nanjing Station, Nanjing Fuxing Station, Songshan Station, and Dingpu Station. Together with MRT Dingxi Station and MRT Gongguan Station, a total of 32 MRT stations are equipped with a breastfeeding room. Furthermore, breastfeeding rooms are also available at Maokong Gondola and Taipei Arena to provide a friendly breastfeeding environment.

In addition, breastfeeding rooms will also be established at 7 stations along the Circular Line, which will become operational soon. The stations include Dapinglin Station, Xiulang Bridge Station, Jingan Station, Banqiao Station (Circular Line), Xinpu Mingsheng Station, Touqianzhuang Station, and New Taipei Industrial Park Station. By then, the number of MRT stations equipped with breastfeeding rooms in the Taipei Metro system will reach 39, providing more nursing mothers traveling on MRT with comprehensive assistance and care.

As for other stations without a dedicated breastfeeding room, an alternate breastfeeding room will be set aside within the station master’s office or the staff room. Passengers with breastfeeding needs may contact the station staff, who will gladly guide passengers to the breastfeeding room and stand guard outside to prevent others from entering by accident.
