Taipei City Government is Accelerating Debt Repayment, Departing from the NT$100 Billion Debt Clubs

Department of Finance (DoF), Taipei City Government (TCG), indicated that TCG implemented NT$30 billion debt repayment with revenues and surplus in 2015 and 2016.

 

Including NT$9 billion repayment on May 8th, 2017, TCG has repaid NT$39 billion in 2 and half years, and the outstanding debt decreased massively from NT$146.8 billion to NT$107.8 billion while Mayor Wen-je Ko took the office in 2014. The debt per person was reduced from NT$54 thousand to NT$40 thousand.

 

DoF said, if the parliament approves the amount of additional budget NT$2.969 billion in 2017 and compile NT$10 billion general budget in 2018 for debt repayment, the debt will decrease NT$52 billion in Wen-je Ko's first term of mayor and the outstanding debt will drop to NT$94.8 billion, so that TCG is going to depart from the NT$100 Billion Debt Clubs, and the debt per person will reduced to NT$35 thousand.
