After accompanying generations of visitors for more than 20 years, the elderly female eastern grey kangaroo at Taipei Zoo peacefully passed away on August 15, 2026, as her body gradually aged and her digestive function declined with advanced age.

As the last eastern grey kangaroo at the zoo, she had become like an old friend who had witnessed the zoo's changes over the years. Born at Taipei Zoo, she spent her energetic younger years hopping across the grassy enclosure, accompanying generations of visitors as they grew up.

As she grew older, Grandma Kangaroo gradually developed age-related eye conditions, while her digestive function and other bodily systems also began to decline. Despite the dedicated care and constant companionship of the keepers and veterinary team, her body continued to age with time, eventually peacefully passed away on August 15, 2026.

Thank you, Grandma Eastern Grey Kangaroo. Through your 20 years and 11 months of life, you taught us valuable lessons about life, aging, and the meaning of companionship.
