Face Mask Purchase Available across 12 Districts Health Centers Starting Feb. 21
To better serve Taipei citizens and support the Central Epidemic Command Center’s policy, the public may purchase face masks at health centers throughout 12 districts in Taipei City by presenting their NHI cards starting February 21. Each health center will make available 400 adult masks and 200 children’s masks daily; each person may only purchase 2 adult masks or 4 children’s masks every 7 days from Monday to Sunday (09:00-12:00).
Previously, Taipei City Health Centers were not part of the MOHW National Health Insurance Administration (NHI)’s system and hence could not sell face masks to the public by swiping their NHI cards. Starting on February 20, the central government has increased the number of masks sold and included the health centers as mask sales locations. In order to provide Taipei citizens with convenient service, after coordinating with the central government to join the authorization system and receiving assistance from the NHI, Taipei City Government’s Department of Health, Health Center, and Taipei City Hospital overcame daunting challenges so that citizens may purchase masks from health centers across 12 districts starting at 09:00 on February 21 by presenting their NHI cards.
Citizens are reminded to bring along their NHI cards (or ARC) when purchasing masks. Based on the last digit of your ID card, you may purchase on the following days:
Odd number: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Even number: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday (the number 0 is considered an even number)
Sunday: No limitation regardless of the last digit of your ID card.
Children’s NHI cards (12 years of age or younger) may be used for purchasing either 2 adult masks or 4 children’s masks (appendix 2). For information pertaining to NHI contracted pharmacies that are selling masks, please refer to https://reurl.cc/8lEOX7.
