Taipei City Hospital initiates
Superintendent of Taipei City Hospital (TCH), Huang Sheng-Jean, said that the Hospital will reshape the role of community hospitals, making it a patient-centered hospital and bringing health services into the community. To realize TCH’s three main objectives, “health and safety, caring and sharing, community building”, the “Inter-hospital Cooperation with National Taiwan University Hospital” program was established. Through practical actions, the Hospital will support medical centers by alleviating the waiting time of emergency patients and their family members for beds, and giving every emergency patient the best quality triage service.
In the future, the Emergency Medicine Department of National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) will first screen the patients, and after communicating with the patients and their family members, transfer them to TCH for admission and treatment. If the patients still wish to transfer back to NTUH, they will not need to queue, but can be admitted to NTUH with priority. In terms of supplementary measures, patients admitted to TCH by referral from NTUH’s Emergency Department may receive joint consultation from NTUH doctors if there are such medical requirements.
At present, TCH has selected Zhongxing branch of Taipei City Hospital as the pilot demonstration hospital. This value-added emergency medical service will be progressively implemented in other TCH branches. TCH will also work closely with NTUH in becoming one of NTUH’s teaching hospitals. Pertaining to the emergency triage and two-way referral system, joint meetings will be held with NTUH for process planning and mapping out the supporting measures.
