DOED Collaborates With 3M to Donate 10,000 Electrostatic Air Filters, 9 Air Purifiers to Elementary Schools
Recently, the impact of air quality and health-related issues such as airborne particulates and PM2.5 on people’s health has come into the spotlight among school children, parents, and teachers. Besides monitoring air quality and installing green campus facilities, it is imperative that students maintain good hygiene for self-protection purposes (such as washing their hands and face before going indoors from an outdoor environment).
Students spend a significant amount of time in the classroom, and 88% of regular classrooms in Taipei’s public elementary school are equipped with AC and energy-saving, temperature-reducing measures to improve the level of comfort in the learning environment, in turn helping the students cope with the harsh summer temperatures caused by climate change.
According to Taipei City Government’s Department of Education, in order to provide the students with better indoor air quality, the DOED has collaborated with 3M to donate 10,000 electrostatic air filters and 9 air purifiers to municipal elementary schools in Taipei City. The electrostatic air filters are mainly used on top of existing AC air filters to enhance indoor air purification, thereby creating a sound learning environment for the students. The partnership has set a good example of improving education through corporate donation.
Fostering a healthy school environment is the common goal of all students, parents, and teachers; therefore, 3M has selflessly donated 10,000 electrostatic air filters and 9 air purifiers to municipal elementary schools in Taipei City to offer them a sound learning environment.
This gesture goes to demonstrate that Taipei is a city of education and love, and it is hoped that businesses and private organizations will continue to work hand in hand to spread benevolence and love for the sake of the schools’ sustainable development.
