[Level 3 COVID Alert] TRTC: Use Ticket Vending Machine to Minimize Contact

Disinfection and cleaning of the ticket vending machine inside a local MRT StationThe Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) encourages riders to take advantage of the automated ticket vending machines to recharge their electronic wallets and purchase single trip tickets. Doing so minimizes the need of face-to-face contact with station personnel and ensures speedy processing of ticket purchase.
The operation of TRTC’s automated ticket vending machine is relatively easy and straightforward. All you have to do is follow the instructions shown on the monitor to complete the purchase.
Furthermore, the station staff conducts cleaning and disinfection of the ticket vending machines every 2 hours to ensure environmental sanitation.
TRTC also reminds passengers who use co-branded EasyCard or Debit EasyCard to activate their autoload function. This will facilitate access at the ticket gate by ensuring that credit is automatically added to their account when the balance of their electronic wallet is insufficient.
The company points out that due to the Level 3 COVID Alert, the frequency of station-wide cleaning and disinfection has been increased to every 2 hours. The interval between the cleaning and disinfection of train cabins is shortened to every 4 hours. The disinfection procedures are carried out by staff from both the Department of Environmental Protection and the 33rd Chemical Corps.
Passengers who enter MRT stations (including ticket vending area and station lobby), Zhongshan Metro Mall, and East Metro Mall are required to wear face mask. Violators will be fined between NT$3,000 and NT$15,000.
