Migrant Workers’ Occupational Injury Rights
What is an occupational accident? What if your finger is accidentally caught in a machine while operating it? What if your foot is accidentally crushed by a heavy object while lifting it? What if you get hit by a vehicle while running errands on behalf of your boss? Injuries that occur during working hours or at your workplace may be considered occupational accidents. This also applies to injuries sustained while commuting for work duties or traveling to and from work. What should you do in the event of an occupational accident? Seek medical attention as soon as possible and report it to your company. Obtain relevant documentation and request work injury leave. If you are unable to work during medical treatment, your employer is obligated to compensate you based on your regular wages. Your company must also cover necessary medical expenses.
