The Taipei City Government (TCG) and the Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable (TFSR) jointly organized the "2024 Financial Services Charity Carnival (Taipei)" today (Dec.7). The event was held lively at Chungshan Cultural Park of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. This event is the first time that TFSR has held a grand event in Taipei City. Mayor Chiang Wan-an, Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) Chairperson Peng Jin-Lung, TFSR Acting Chairman Chen Hui-Yu, Chairman of the Finance Association and chairman of various financial institutions attended the opening ceremony.
Mayor Chiang Wan-an, in his speech, praised the TFSR for uniting the financial industry’s goodwill and long-standing dedication to social welfare and corporate social responsibility. He also expressed gratitude to the TFSR and the FSC for rallying 20 financial institutions and associations to collectively raise NT$2.4 million for charity. During the donation ceremony, witnessed by FSC Chairperson Peng Jin-Lung, TFSR Acting Chairman Chen Hui-Yu handed over the funds to The Department of Social Welfare, TCG for their “Disadvantaged Friendly Life Project.” This initiative focuses on aiding low-income and lower-middle-income households, Physically and Mentally Disabled People, disabled and Live-alone Elders, and economically struggling near-poor households. TCG also presented a certificate of appreciation in return. Additionally, invoices collected during the event will be donated to The First Social Welfare Foundation, aiming to combine the resources of the city government and the financial sector to continue supporting disadvantaged groups and fostering social inclusion.
The carnival revolved around themes of financial education, charitable causes, and fraud prevention. It featured a wide variety of activities, including a "Financial Education Zone" with 102 booths hosted by financial associations, institutions, and related organizations to promote financial knowledge and fraud prevention. There was also a "Charity Zone" and a "Food Zone" with 43 booths offering municipal services, gourmet snacks, small farmer markets, creative arts, and sheltered workshops. Stage performances and lucky draws added to the vibrant atmosphere, attracting citizens of all ages. The lively event successfully highlighted the spread of financial literacy and the warmth of charity.
