CDC Raises Travel Advisory Level for Seoul
On June 2, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) adjusted its epidemic travel advisory for Seoul to level 2.
Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) reminds those who have plans for visiting South Korea to wash hands frequently and avoid hospital visits. If you have signs of fever or experience any symptoms of discomfort after returning from Korea, please call toll-free disease prevention hotline 1922 for assistance.
CDC initiated the implementation of 5 standard operation procedures including strengthening border body temperature screening; conducting detailed travel-history inquiry; distributing MERS educational brochures; and boarding quarantine if necessary.
TPEDOIT urges the public not to panic. It is not yet necessary to wear surgical masks in public space. Those who plan to travel to South Korea should wash their hands frequently, wear masks when experiencing fever or respiratory related symptoms, and avoid hospital visits. If visiting a hospital is necessary, remember to wear a mask and make sure it is properly worn. It is also important to keep your mask dry. You should replace your mask if it is carrying abundant moisture.
The Taipei office of Korea Tourism Organization cited the MERS Management Countermeasures Headquarters in South Korea, reminding visitors to wash their hands frequently, wear masks, and cover their mouth when coughing.
In addition to raising the travel advisory for Seoul, other cities of South Korea are also listed as level 1 travel advisory region.
