Educational Session, Policy Clarification for Taipei City’s Senior Driver’s License Holders Returning Their Driver’s Licenses
To encourage Taipei City’s senior driver’s license holders to return their driver’s licenses, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Transportation (DOT) has invited associated departments to gather for meetings to discuss appropriate resolutions.
In addition to printing pamphlets adding senior driver license renewal information and giving them out through various distribution channels, diverse resources available in Taipei City Government, such as tickers, Traffic Safety Security Team, and dining areas for elderly persons have also been integrated for enhanced publicizing. These efforts are meant to increase the rate of seniors’ driver’s licenses returned and at the same time to lower traffic accidents.
Moreover, to enhance the convenience of this program for senior driver’s license holders, the DOT also coordinated with the Department of Health and Taipei City Hospital to assist in managing its stations in Daan District, Wanhua District, and Zhongzheng District.
These are temporary locations set up by Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office that offer cognitive function tests and license renewal service, which are to ensure Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office is providing service channels in all 12 Districts within Taipei City and to increase driver’s license returning rate from senior holders.
The DOT also encourages senior driver’s license holders to return their licenses. They are welcome to contact the Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office (TEL: 02-2763-0155) to inquire on matters related to the return. Seniors are welcome to further utilize their Senior Card to take public transportations. The DOT will continue, along with all departments in Taipei City Government and Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office, to educate the City’s senior driver’s license holders on information related to returning their driver’s license.
