Spectacular Taipei Bimonthly No. 44 Takes You on a Tea Tasting Journey
April to June is spring-tea season and a prime time to visit Taipei. Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) Media Relations and Publications Division Chief Huang Hui-jing noted that tea culture is a part of Taipei’s historical development. The new issue of Spectacular Taipei Bimonthly introduces a new “Taipei Tours” section, taking readers on a journey to discover tea. This section highlights Muzha/Maokong, Dadaocheng, and Nangang Jiuzhuang tea-farm area in the hunt for Taipei’s very best.
Huang pointed out that to make information on attractions readily available to tourists, “Taipei Tours” section now comes with three simplified attraction maps to show all attractions that are worth visiting. The maps include Maokong Tieguanyin Tour map, Dadaocheng Premium Tea Tour map, and Nangang Jiuzhuang Tea Mountain Tour map.
Muzha’s Maokong area is renowned for the production of Tieguanyin (Iron Goddess) and Baozhong teas. Take advantage of the scents of spring and the warm sunshine for a special Maokong mountain tour by immersing yourself in this special corner of Taipei’s wonderful diversity.
Long ago, Dadaocheng used to be Taipei’s top tea-trade port. In recent years, many creative boutiques and innovative dining spaces have set up shop in the neighborhood, adding to the compelling fusion of old and new. Nangang was the first place in Taiwan where Baozhong tea was produced. Ample rain, humidity, and hilly terrain makes Nangang an ideal tea-production area.
The “Taipei Feast” section continues the search for great tea and introduces Taipei’s creative tea cuisines such as Oolong Beef Noodles and dried tofu stewed in oolong tea. The “MRT Travel Fun” section presents attractions and restaurants along MRT Wenhu Line. The “Taipei Highlights” section offers new destinations to be discovered, especially the new looks of historic sites.
The “Leisure & Arts Taipei” section reminds tourists of local festivals and events such as the 2015 Zhuzihu Calla Lily Festival, the 2015 Wenshan Tea and Bamboo Shoots Folk Culture Festival, and the 2015 Taipei Traditional Market Festival.
Spectacular Taipei Bimonthly brochure is published in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. Starting this issue, readers can obtain a digital copy of the brochure on “Taipei ebooks”.
