TAIPEITRAVEL Facebook Fan Page Attracts Likes with “Virtual Garden”
Springtime is here!
Fresh blooming flowers immerse the city with their pleasant scents. In addition to seeing flowers in-person, readers of another option – viewing them online. Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) has uploaded photos on the fan page of TAIPEITRAVEL on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/taipeitravel) to create a virtual “garden” online. These flower photos attracted “likes” quickly, scoring 55,000 likes and 1,100,000 page views.
To bring quality posts on flower topics to readers, TPEDOIT formed a “flower editing group” comprising flower enthusiasts, photographers, and writers. Group members update the fan page with beautiful flower photos and flower-viewing information on a frequent basis.
A recent post popular among readers involved updates on Calla Lilies at Yangmingshan’s Zhuzihu area. Furthermore, articles on Beitou’s cherry blossom tunnel and the roses at Xinsheng Park also attracted many readers.
TPEDOIT encourages the public to visit parks and scenic attractions such as Yangmingshan and Maokong during the weekends. In addition to the Calla Lily Festival, a 12-day-long rose exhibition at Shilin Official Residence has opened to the public on April 1.
