Find bicycle parking lots with “i Taipei Parking” App
To provide better parking service for cyclists, Taipei City Government has set up bicycle parking spaces at 52 off-street parking lots across the City. At the end of 2014, bicycle parking guidance signs were also set up at surrounding important transport nodes of these parking lots to enhance the information available to the public. An “i Taipei Parking” App has also been launched to provide more parking information for cyclists.
In addition, to encourage staff of government agencies and private companies to commute by bicycle, the Parking Management and Development Office has, since 2013, allowed private and government agencies to apply for set up of bike racks for public usage. By the end of 2014, 40 cases (1,928 racks) have been approved. This has played a great part in providing safe and convenient parking for cyclists. The public may download the application form at the Parking Management and Development Office website (http://www.pma.gov.taipei/(Chinese)). The office will process the applications upon receiving them.
The Parking Management and Development Office said that as MRT commuters have a higher bike parking requirement, 1,657 bike parking spaces were further set up near MRT stations in 2014, on top of the interchange space designated by the Department of Rapid Transit Systems. To encourage the public to cycle, 3,134 parking spaces were also added to public transport nodes where the public often congregate, such as schools, parks, markets, shopping areas, libraries and government agencies. The public may also recommend locations for the parking spaces by dialing 1999 citizen hotline or through their local village office, where the applications will be reviewed and processed.
