Shopping at Wufenpu
In addition to the department stores in Taipei, Wufenpu, located opposite the Songshan train station, is also a good place to shop. The many shops selling trendy clothes from Japan, Korea and Thailand will surely attract you and keep you in the area for a while. It is said that during Emperor Qianlong's reign (1736-1795), the He, Zhou, Shen, Du, and Li families settled here. Thus, it was named “Wufengpu” meaning land with five divisions. Now it has become the largest clothing market in Taipei. With more than a hundred clothing shops, it is also the best location for street vendors and owners of smaller boutiques from across the island to look for new products. Every Monday, you will see vendors walking through shops with large bags, comparing the quality of clothes and bargaining with shop owners. Individual customers are also welcome. Prices range from NT$100 to NT$1000. Clothing and accessories, including pants (trousers), skirts, belts, shoes and purses of various fashion styles, are all inexpensive. Many stars come here to shop for new products, make purchases according to their personal styles, and thus create unique, eye-catching fashion statements. Wufenpu has garments for everyone – for children, teens, pregnant women and even for pets. Every item here is affordable and is of good quality. What are you waiting for?
