【Activities】YMHD’s Special Olympics Chinese 2012 Medalists Recognized at Taipei’s City Affairs Meeting
Activity Date: November 13, 2012 Activity Time: 6:00 -9:00 p.m. Venue: Liu Ming-Chuan Hall, Taipei City Government Participants: A 20-member delegation made up of YMHD students, coaches, and counselors Active goal:
In 2003, YMHD started to actively promote a group fitness routine combined with warm-up stretching for all residents. Exercise bikes and treadmills were added to that routine for enhanced cardiorespiratory function, physical endurance, and also slow down the residents’ physical aging process. In addition to fitness training, YMHD residents practice Bocce, a competitive sport of the Special Olympics Chinese Taipei, in their free time for improved hand-eye co-ordination and cognitive skills. Having spent years on a practice program that ensures them a good grasp of the objective, scoring skills, rules, techniques, and strategies for the games, YMHD delegates garnered medals at the Municipal Sports Game for People with Disabilities and have often achieved splendid results on behalf of Taipei City at the National Disabled Games.
