Taipei’s Undergrounding Achievements Attract Foreign Government Officials
For two consecutive years, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism has dispatched staff members to Taipei City to learn about the implementation and experience of Taipei’s effort in undergrounding power cables.In light of this, the Shizuoka Prefecture Government also dispatched personnel to conduct an official visit to Taipei’s Road and Pipeline Information Center (RPIC) on March 15, 2017. The purpose of this visit was to study Taipei’s design, methodology, and execution of undergrounding power cables in Taipei, as well as to discuss issues such as regulations on relocating power facilities. Staff from Taipower Company also attended the meeting to provide technical opinions related with construction methods and knowhow.The officials from Shizuoka Prefecture Government and Izunokuni City Government lauded the successful experience of RPIC. They were also interested in the details on the cost and time for the construction implementation. Details such as the distribution of construction funds between government and private entities, pipeline burying depth, and selection of location were also discussed.Through this exchange and experience-sharing session, RPIC successfully promoted the City’s policy to Japanese visitors, thereby boosting Taipei City’s international profile.
