Mountain Cleaning and Hiking Activity with Disaster Prevention Carnival

The Taipei City Fire Department 2nd District Headquarters and Songshan Tsu Huei Temple will co-organize a disaster prevention event at Songshan Tsu Huei Temple Square (No. 33, Lane 251, Fude Street, Xinyi District) from 7:30 A.M to 12:30 P.M on April 13th (Saturday). We invite citizens to join us in experiencing nature, promoting environmental protection, disaster prevention awareness, and learning accurate disaster prevention knowledge.

On April 3rd, 2024, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck 25 kilometers southeast of Hualien County, Taiwan. Taipei City recorded a maximum seismic intensity of 5-, resulting in 215 people injured. The Fire Department stated that most injuries were caused by furniture overturning, falling objects, and sharp objects. During the shaking, people moving in panic without seeking shelter behind sturdy objects faced a higher risk of injury. Therefore, the Fire Department urges the public to immediately take the "drop, cover, and hold on" action during earthquakes, crawl underneath a table or an interior wall, and protect the head and neck with tables or sturdy objects to avoid injury from moving or falling objects. Additionally, after the earthquake has stopped, it is essential to promptly ensure the safety of surrounding family and friends and inspect whether gas and heat sources at home are turned off to prevent fires and exacerbation of secondary disasters.
